What is True-Tile®?
True-Tile® relates to a pool liner. More particularly, this invention relates to a perimeter tile bracket and liner assembly for a swimming pool and to a method for providing a water tight seal for the perimeter tile bracket and liner assembly at a termination point such as at a junction with a skimmer adapter assembly, a step, a ladder, or other termination.

Why would I want to consider applying True-Tile® to my pool?
A pools value and appearance are enhanced when True-Tile® is installed. Why have imitation tile printed on your liner when you can have the real thing. When True-Tile® is applied to any pool you now have the opportunity to choose virtually any pattern or color of 6” x6” frost proof pool tile.

What are the typical tools necessary for completing a True-Tile® installation?
Minimal tools are necessary to install the True-Tile® system (base track, end caps and skimmer extensions). You will need a hand saw, miter saw (12”), cordless drill. To apply the tile you’ll need a float to install the tile, and a “V” notched trowel is needed to install Novagard adhesive to track.

Can anyone install a True-Tile® pool?
Any capable pool installer would be more than able to install True-Tile®.

What training or special knowledge is required?
Must read all instructions. Ability to operate small power tools (saw, drill/screw gun) simple carpentry skills.

How much additional time will be needed to install a True-Tile® pool?
Time necessary to install the track and base components should be roughly equivalent to aluminum coping installation. Tile installation will usually be one or two man-days, depending on pool size and tile style.

Are there any special materials required to install a True-Tile® pool?
There are two key elements that promote True-Tile® success. Novagard adhesive, which is purchased when other True-Tile® components are ordered and Laticrete SpectraLOCK grout which is purchased by your tile installer will assist in providing you many years of beautiful tile.

What are my tile or grout limitations?
Laticrete SpectraLOCK Grout is recommended. This is a two part epoxy grout which is color fast and will not shrink. Large solid (6x6) tiles may need to be cut to fit better on tight curves.

Are there any pool features that are affected by theapplication to the True-Tile® program?
Special water features such as a vanishing edge or a waterfall may need special considerations. Please call us.

What are the vinyl liner wall patterns available to choose from?
Floor patterns are all that’s needed, no wall border patterns are necessary.

Is there any other product in use today that provides the same unique family of features?
No. True-Tile® is unique to the pool industry, and is patented.

What happens at the skimmer in a True-Tile® installation?
An extension is installed behind the standard Hayward 1084 / 1085 or Kafko faceplate.

What happens at the steps and/or wall ladder in a True-Tile® installation?
Terminations are installed to seal the tile track to the wall / step and end the tile track.

Will there will be colors other than White available?
Colors available for new installations are White, Blue, and Grey.

Can anyone manufacture our True-Tile® system?
No. Our entire True-Tile® system including the bead has been patented and will be exclusive to Kafko customers.

Are there any special considerations to be aware of with regard to the liner?
The liner will be shorter and now below the waterline, extending its life even longer. Be sure to specify True-Tile® when ordering your liner.

Will our True-Tile® system work with our wedding cake step currently available?
Yes, this system will work concurrently with any of our wedding cake steps with no special accommodations.

Does the tile continue about the step perimeter?
At this time, our True-Tile® system does not travel about the perimeter of any of our current thermoplastics or fiberglass steps.

What about using a steel step with vinyl over?
Yes, as long as the top riser height between the top tread and the top of the pool wall is 8” or greater. Any dimension less than 8” will prohibit the use of True-Tile®.

Are there any pool shape restrictions for us with True-Tile®?
No, both reverse radius and radius panels will not present any obstacles. We’ve tested from 6” radius corners and up. True-Tile® can accommodate 45 and 90 degree corners as well.

Can our True-Tile® system be used for retro-fit applications?
Yes, polymer, wood and steel wall pools can be easily retrofit with this system providing your skimmer is in the proper location (skimmer rough opening top horizontal is 2” from top of panel). Concrete or gunite pools have yet to be addressed and are not recommended for True-Tile® application at this time.

Who is this program limited to, are there any restrictions?
This product is available to all dealers.

Are there any current pool installation practices in place today that will be inhibited by installation of True-Tile®?
Use of an Aquadoor for winterizing is not recommended and should be avoided. True-Tile® installation presently works with only Hayward 1084 and 1085 skimmers. Location of skimmer rough opening needs to be located down 2” from top of panel. Tile limitations – max 6” x 6” tile size.
